There are three primary funding sources for professional or research travel.

Extramural grants and contracts may provide funds for travel to field research projects or professional meetings. Expenditure of these funds must conform to University regulations.

The Academic Senate Committee on Research offers funds for travel to professional meetings and research facilities. Members of the Academic Senate are eligible to apply for research travel grants and intercampus travel grants. For details visit the Committee on Research website.

Your department may have money for travel to research projects or professional meetings, but department funds should be regarded as a last resort.
