How can I borrow materials from other libraries? prev next

Faculty may request materials not owned by UC Berkeley free of charge through the Library’s Interlibrary Borrowing Service. Some libraries specify categories of materials that are not available on loan.

Instructions for submitting interlibrary borrowing requests online are available on the Library website. Requests may also be submitted in person in most subject specialty libraries and at Interlibrary Services, 133 Doe Library. Requests are generally filled within two weeks, depending on the availability of the materials and the location of the lending library. Items borrowed via Interlibrary Borrowing should be picked up and returned at 133 Doe Library. An after-hours book return is available outside Room 133.

The Research Library Cooperative Program (RLCP) makes the library resources of Stanford University and the University of Texas at Austin directly available to Berkeley faculty. To register for RLCP privileges, complete an online application form or apply in person at the Privileges Desk in Doe Library.
