How are salary increases handled? prev next

There are two types of salary increases–merit-based and range adjustments (cost of living). UC has a step-based salary system and faculty can expect to advance every two or three years on a normal progression basis, assuming continuing good performance. Advancements are decided on merit alone and are not tied to any budget restrictions. Range adjustments are usually provided annually to all faculty. The percentage of increase is determined by a methodology which compares UC salaries with eight other institutions and by the state budget. Consult the Academic Personnel Manual, section 220 for more information.
