How do I order textbooks and supplies for students in my classes? prev next

Textbook orders are usually submitted a semester in advance. Many faculty order textbooks themselves through eDOPTION, an online service of the campus bookstore. From the menu select "Faculty," and follow the links to "eDOPTION." The first time you register, you will be asked for your email address and password. Your first-time password is "554."

In some cases, departmental staff handle the ordering of texts and other course supplies, such as lab and art materials. Departmental staff will notify you when they need your book orders. Your department will forward your textbook list and your supplies order to the Cal Student Store, located in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Student Union. Independent vendors in Berkeley also stock some required texts.

Department staff will also provide information on ordering desk copies, submitting reserve lists to the library, and ordering course readers from the Cal Student Store or independent vendors. You may also wish to check with colleagues about local copy centers they have used. Most are quite busy at the beginning of the semester and it's to your benefit to get master copies to them as far in advance as possible.
