What constitutes student academic dishonesty?  prev next

Violations of academic integrity include, but are not limited to, plagiarism, copying another’s exam, impermissible collaboration, stealing another’s work, altering an exam for regrading, forging a grade change, using crib notes or a programmed calculator in an exam, procuring an exam key, taking an exam for someone else, forging a letter of recommendation, computer crimes, illegal use of a solution manual, selling lecture notes without authorization, and tampering with research results.

The Berkeley Campus Code of Student Conduct and the Berkeley Campus Regulations, available from the Office of Student Judicial Affairs and on the web, discuss acts of student misconduct (academic and nonacademic), the scope and purpose of the student judicial system, sanctions and penalties, and hearing bodies and procedures. The Office of Student Judicial Affairs also distributes the brochures Instructor’s Guide for Addressing Student Academic Dishonesty and Student Guide to Academic Integrity at Cal, available on the office’s website. These publications offer helpful tips on encouraging academic integrity.
