What resources are available to help women who have been sexually assaulted or to help protect themselves from sexual assault? prev next

See "How can I increase my safety on campus?" for general information on campus safety, the escort and shuttle services, and emergency phones.

The Gender Equity Resource Center (642-4786) offers outreach education and support services to the campus community on sexual harassment, dating violence, stalking, sexual assault, rape, and other gender discrimination issues, and works in collaboration with the Title IX/Sexual Harassment Officer and University Health Services: Health Promotion (642-7202) to provide workshops on the spectrum of sexual violence. GenEq also provides safety tips, works with UC Police Department to assist individuals with restraining order applications and relocations when appropriate, and provides ongoing advocacy and support services throughout campus administrative complaint resolution procedures.

University Health Services (UHS) offers a range of assistance to students who have experienced a sexual or physical assault.  To access medical care, students may walk in to the Urgent Care unit between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. and speak with the triage nurse.  When the UHS is closed, students are encouraged to phone the after hours line, 643-7197, for referral assistance or 911 for a police response and accompaniment to the hospital.  Social Services at UHS offers confidential counseling and support immediately after a sexual assault or at any point that the survivor is ready to seek assistance.  Counselors can also help the student navigate legal options and secure academic accommodations, when needed.  Phone 642-6074 to schedule an urgent appointment.
