The Parking & Transportation Department operates BearTransit, which provides daytime and nighttime shuttle service in the campus and vicinity. For information, call the P&T office (643-7701) or check the BearTransit webpage. BearTransit bus passes are free to faculty and staff who purchase campus parking permits; the Richmond Field Station (RFS) route requires fare payment. Bear Pass holders also have access to BearTransit shuttle buses. Faculty and staff who do not purchase parking or a Bear Pass will need to purchase a bus pass from Parking & Transportation to use the campus shuttles.
Wheelchair-accessible lift-equipped service is available on all shuttles from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday and from 7:30 p.m. until 2:30 a.m. Sunday thru Saturday. BearTransit operates at full service during Fall and Spring semesters, and reduced service at other times. Visit the BearTransit webpage for specific route, map, and schedule information. Printed BearTransit System Guides are available at the Moffitt Library, the Police Department (1 Sproul Hall), the P&T office, and on buses.
BearTransit operates five routes during the day, and four Night Safety Shuttle routes from 7:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. Night Safety Shuttles are free to all, and service BART, libraries, parking lots, residence halls, and the campus vicinity. Two routes drop passengers to their door within service boundaries.
The BearWALK service provides a walking escort within defined boundaries from dusk to 2:00 a.m., and the Owl shuttle provides a ride by phone request between the hours of 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. 365 days a year. Call 642-WALK to request BearWALK or Owl shuttle services.
The Loop provides intra-campus transportation for those with mobility impairments. Schedule, route, and stops can be found on the website.
