What committees and offices are specifically concerned with issues of faculty diversity? prev next

In addition to Office for Faculty Equity, the Academic Senate Committee on the Status of Women and Ethnic Minorities works to promote equal opportunity for women and underrepresented minorities at Berkeley.

The Title IX/VI Officer (643-7985) in the Campus Climate and Compliance Office monitors and evaluates campus efforts to meet requirements under the 1972 Title IX Education Amendment regulations which prohibit sex discrimination and the Title VI Education Amendment which prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, in educational institutions that receive federal funding. The Title IX/VI Compliance Officer works with students, staff, and faculty to resolve complaints about sexual harassment and sexual discrimination; racial harassment; and racially or sexually hostile environments; and coordinates campus responses to sexual assault and rape.

There are also several campus staff and faculty organizations representing Berkeley’s ethnic and cultural diversity. Check the StaffOrg website for a list and contact information.
