What is University Extension? prev

University Extension, known publicly as UC Berkeley Extension, is the continuing education branch of the Berkeley campus. Extension offers a broad curriculum of high-quality continuing education courses, professional sequences, and certificate programs that address the needs of the general public, the professions, and business and industry. More than 2,000 courses are offered each year at five locations around the Bay Area (including the Berkeley campus and two locations in San Francisco) and in some cases nationally and abroad. UC Berkeley Extension Online also offers a broad curriculum of online courses to the general public. See "Can I teach for University Extension?" if you are interested in serving as an instructor.

Discounts on classes of 10 percent (up to $250) are available to Berkeley campus career employees with at least 12 months of service at 50 percent time or more.

Extension’s course catalogs are available online at the website above or in hard copy (call 1-888-827-6278).
