This Guide is designed to introduce new faculty members to UC Berkeley by answering some of the most commonly asked questions about faculty life and work.

Of course, no single website can contain everything you want to know about Berkeley. We have tried, however, to point you in the right direction by providing the names of campus administrative and service offices, along with phone numbers, e-mail addresses, and web addresses as available. We have tended to avoid using names of specific people, since personnel in any given office can change.

Although we have tried to be accurate, this Guide is not an official source of rules and regulations, and information in the Guide is subject to change. For up-to-date official statements of policies and procedures, consult the cited publications, manuals, and handbooks.

If you are looking for a particular piece of information, we suggest you use the search function, which works very well. It will probably save you time and take you directly to the most relevant pages.

You may have questions not addressed in this Guide. If your department chair, administrative assistant, and colleagues are stumped, contact the Office of Educational Development, 403 Sproul Hall, 642-6392, email. We may not know the answer, but we’ll find out who does.
